Our programme was called re-focusing sustainable best practice in higher education management: the case for Ghana and The Netherlands. Dutch Academic Services cooperated with ICLON. The programme was well organised at short notice. We required a good balance between practice and theory of modern university management and leadership. The lectures were of good practice. They applied much of the knowledge to bring about increased efficiency in higher education,we visited key institutions such as the Council of Universities and Applied Science Universities. We also got a insiders view in the planning and control cycle as well as student registration. Dutch Academic Services offered us a wonderful experience.

My educational visit to the Netherlands in 2014 was quite a successful event. Marc was a Program leader during my internship, and I think his ability of an excellent organizer and supervisor became a passport to the success of the whole arrangement. I am inspired with his talent of managing things brilliantly. He sees the goal clearly and does everything depending on him to succeed. This internship was a big step forward for me professionally and personally.

‘To me, his main quality is his sincerity. If one wants a solid administrative structure, it often takes long and hard work; Marc van den Muijzenberg will bring that to his clients straight forward. He doesn’t pretend things to be easier than they actually are. He is truly a man of the content. His efforts are thorough and he is driven to leave something behind. He is also used to working with people from different cultures, which enables him to understand differences and to adjust effortlessly. Yet he always keeps an objective eye.’

After winning the tender, Marc van den Muyzenberg came to Ukraine. He arrived very well prepared and showed a clear vision on what could be achieved. Also notable were his flexibility and his willingness to think with us. Together we identified six main topics to focus on, among which leadership, human resource management and time management. We also added ethics to the list, for example the fight against corruption. This was not something we planned, but a suggestion Mr. Van den Muyzenberg came up with, one we appreciated. He also suggested options for funding in the EU. So he didn’t just train the professionals, he also trained the staff of our school – and that was not part of the tender.’

How does one select top public executives? How does one deal with high potentials in the public sector? For that kind of questions he is the right man. Not only is he a good teacher of knowledge and skills, he is also able to hold the ideal perspective against the practical possibilities of a particular country. He thus helps organizations to make strategic choices.’

‘Having worked with Marc van den Muyzenberg on several projects in the Netherlands and the Arab region, I am confident that he has what it takes to connect two different approaches towards the public sector and create a new vision in intense training and exchange programs that benefits all participants.’
